1. The Stages of the Journey
- The Ego, Soul, and Self (preparation, journey, and return)

- Ego: Innocent, Orphan, Warrior, Caregiver
- Soul: Seeker, Destroyer, Lover, Creator
- Self: Ruler, Magician, Sage, Fool
2. The Ego: Protecting the Inner Child
- Individuation includes all three; Ego, Soul, and Self
- Ego is crucial prior to taking the Journey(s)
- Innocent/Orphan – Child (Judge well/helpers from tempters)
- Warrior/Caregiver – Parent (courage/compassion)
- The Ego becomes the container for the Soul (Warning: Ego must be strong)
3. The Soul: Entering the Mysteries
- Soul (psyche?) collective unconscious… archetypes emerge from here…
- Sense of intimacy with other(s); Ego establishes boundaries
- Initiation through Soul language (symbolism, myth, …)
- Right-brain; metaphors and paradox
- Seeker, Destroyer, Lover, Creator
4. The Self: Expressing Ourselves in the World
-After the journey, the treasure is used to transform through the “new ordering principle”
-Must let go of outdated perceptions and ideas of our identities and processes
-Our never-ending journeys should not be linear or flat, they should reflect a spiral… ascending towards the divine. No journeys constitute stagnation; the Hero of each journey returns to replace the old Ruler (renewal/change, birth/death/rebirth)
-The Quest– of initiation, death, eros, and birth ***must make the experience conscious; available to self and others… must accept and use this new knowledge (take action), when this occurs we are ending that journey…
–The Grail; the chalice (feminine), filled with spirit (masculine) represents the sexual union… not on the physical plane but the psychological
-The groin represents fertility, if there is injury it represents things are not being created…
-The King’s marrage to his Kingdom; when he is injured , it is normally groin related and represents our marage to our kingdom within boundaries…
-Creation is impossible without destroying (letting go) of previous… consciousness through eros provides for a different type of conscousness, not only mental knowing… the biblical meaning of “to know” is to have intercourse… using our suffering/transformation in similar manner to intercourse… make this experience conscious and emerge reborn
